Officially Home... Favorites Recap

It's official... I'm home. I got home last night and have been catching up on sleep, eating American foods and telling my family all of the stories from my trip. Here is the final recap of the best parts of the trip, then it's time I got back to regular posts!

My Partner In Crime... The two of us literally traveled the world together (Positano, Amalfi, Capri, Anacapri, Sorrento, Florence & Rome of course).

Our hotel cat will be missed... 16 years old still greeting everyone at the gates!

The most memorable experience... watching the final game at the Circus Maximus.

The best view of the trip... when on the boat in Capri

 Best beverage

The most beautiful clothing was in Capri

My favorite snack shop... chevron floors and walls

 The most beautiful evening view

The funniest experience... the blue grotto. Our boat driver was dancing and singing the whole time!

We went to Barberini every single morning for breakfast (a coffee and croissant).

Weekend In Paradise

Hello! Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend... any special plans or pre 4th or July excursions? I just got back from the most amazing weekend vacation I have ever been on. My friend and I went to Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Anacapri in two days. We stayed in Sorrento in a little hotel on the top of the mountain and then took boat trips to Amalfi and Positano on Friday and then to Capri yesterday. I don't think I have ever seen anything so beautiful in my entire life... these pictures don't do it justice but here they are.

Thursday - Sorrento
We left Rome really early in the morning and took a 2 hour train to Naples where we then hopped on a 1 hour local train to Sorrento. I have to say, from what we saw, Naples was dirty and run down but getting to Sorrento lifted our sprits. We got to the hotel and sat by the pool for a bit and then explored the down town area for a couple of hours.

The view from our hotel

Amazing dinner

Greenery and flowers everywhere

Friday - Amalfi & Positano
We took a 1 hour boat ride from the port in Sorrento to Amalfi where we had 2 hours to shop and eat and then we went to Positano where we had another 2 hours to mill about.

Gran Cafe was our choice for lunch

This was the view from our table... the beaches were only pebbles, no sand

 Positano Harbor

The beach in Positano... on the hill was all the little shops

Before getting back on the boat we got lemon slushies... the lemon tastes so different here!

Saturday - Capri & Anacapri
The two most beautiful places I have ever seen. We were dropped off at a little port and had 6 hours to do and see everything we wanted. We went to the blue grotto (quite an experience) and we had sandals made custom and did some other shopping too!

Capri...

I have never seen water this color in my life

On the boat with Emily

Stunning... we went through the "love arch" with the boat!

The view from the bus... those rides were scary!

The blue grotto bus line... I will do another post on the blue grotto experience soon!

He is making my shoes... I did a really simple leather pair and then got a pair with rope.

Went swimming through here!

Aggiungi didascalia
Found heart shaped rocks for the family... sorry the photo is upside down.

Bye Capri...

This trip was amazing and I would highly recommend everyone to experience these majestic places once in their lifetime! If you have any questions about how we planned, where we stayed, etc. feel free to send me an email and I would be happy to help!

Happy July! xox

Weekend Plans In Sorrento

My weekend began early this week... I left today with one of my friends to spend the next few days in Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri. I have to say this weekend was much needed and I am loving every moment here, from the view to the food to the peaceful, relaxing atmosphere, I don't know if I will want to leave!

Here are some pictures of this afternoon... tomorrow is a boat trip up the Amalfi Coast and Saturday a boat trip to Capri so I will have a lot more pictures soon.

The Vatican

The first week of classes is already over! I can't believe this trip is going by so quickly... it makes me realize that I have to take advantage of every opportunity to go, see or do things. So far we have seen the Spanish steps, the Trevi Fountain, many churches around our hotel and of course the Vatican. Yesterday's trip was pretty amazing, here are a few pictures of the exterior... the interior ones aren't loading on my computer for some reason but I promise you will see some of those too!

The dome

The view from the top of the dome... stunning!

Overlooking the front of the Vatican

My friend and I the other night!

As for this weekend's travels...

We had a little problem in that we were planning on going to leave for Amalfi tomorrow morning and stay there for two nights and rent a boat and go to Capri for the days but there is going to be a public transportation strike tomorrow and we are going to stay here this weekend instead.

We were thinking tomorrow we would see the Colosseum, Pantheon, Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain (the last two we saw briefly but we actually want to get pictures at them) and Saturday we will probably go to Florence and maybe the beach on Sunday.

Have any of you been to Italy? Any must see places that aren't so toursitsy?
