Work It

I never thought that I would be saying this but I actually enjoy working out. Over the past year I went from going to the gym once every two months to going at least three times a week and I've never felt better! This year I have really been able to find balance in my school life and working out has undoubtedly helped me find a time during the day to blow off steam and reflect on my day. I usually run two miles on either the treadmill, or the indoor track {I can't wait for the warm weather to run around campus} and then sometimes go on the elliptical for another mile or two. I am getting ready for Color Me Rad, its just like The Color Run that I did this past summer. After my cardio workout, its down to weights and abs... I usually do a series of 5 different arm lifts and then I work on abs for 5-10 minutes. Have you ever tried 8 minute abs? My friend and I sometimes pull it up on our phones at the gym and work away. I never stay at the gym more than an hour {it usually ends up being close to 45 minutes} and I feel so much better when I leave. Working out gives me so much energy and motivation to keep the rest of my day going strong. Do you find that working out powers you through the day?

Enjoy! xox

Wellness Kick

This is my first ever post on wellness, but now that I'm in a fitness and health food kick you might be seeing more and more! I'll give you a little background as to why this summer has become centered on healthy eating and fitness. I don't know about any of you but I have always had very little energy throughout the day... I require about 9-10 hours of sleep a night (nearly impossible in college) and still wake up feeling tired. I've always been a healthy eater, I don't really like sweets, and desserts and eat a lot of fruits and veggies but lately I have made a complete food transformation in the sense that I've increased the amount of fruit and veggies by a lot! Yesterday alone I had...

And what I've realized is that even though I am eating more frequently because the fruits and veggies don't fill me up as much as snack foods, I have more energy throughout the day and in addition am getting many more nutrients and minerals naturally! I've also been running occasionally, doing laps in the pool and working out at home (crunches, push ups, russian crunches). The next big step is to increase the amount of water that I drink... I've never been one to carry around a water bottle with me everywhere. Do any of you have any good ideas that might help?

Maybe some of these cute water bottles might help my cause!

Enjoy the beautiful weather! xox
