Weekend Wishes

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Thankfully this week flew by and I managed to finish an essay, three lab reports, and a test from Wednesday through Friday (thats why I have been MIA for a few days). I'm going to take this weekend slowly, this morning I've started the morning by spending time blogging and on Pinterest while watching a TED talk on healthy eating (its pretty fascinating). I need to find more of a balance, the weeks tend to be a complete whirlwind with no sleep and then the weekends are just about catching up and preparing for the next week. So this weekend and hopefully next week, I am going to dedicate 20 minutes to watching a TED talk or reading the news to do something different!

Here are a couple links that have caught my eye this morning

- I came across this DVD called Hungry for Change and I am putting it on my list to watch when I have some free time. It seems fascinating!!
- Kate Spade is having a Friends & Family 25% off sale...
- J.Crew is having a 25% off sale for suits, tshirts and shorts
- I'm considering buying a pair of Sperry's... I have realized (after being on campus for almost 2 years) just how versatile and comfy they really are, I'm thinking of a classic pair

Enjoy! xox

Scalloped Detail

I love nothing more that a scalloped detail to dress up or add some style to a simple piece. I like pieces to be classic with a twist. I'd rather have a plain white shirt over a crazy floral patterned one and a simply designed piece of furniture with a hint of sass instead of a statement piece that will go out of style quickly. Scalloped details are one of those timeless and classic elements that can add an element of  style to anything!

Loving all the scalloped details!

Have a wonderful day!

Wish List... Stripe Edition

I came across this picture the other day on Pinterest and it connected to none other than the talented and stylish Sarah Vickers of Classy Girls Wear Peals. She and her friends were doing a spring photoshoot and one of them got to wear this amazing sweater. From the pop of color front to the classic stripes to the elbow patches I can't tell you how much I love this sweater! What do you think? Would you go for something of this sort?

If you are a stripe lover like myself you might have had your eye on this fun dress from Anthropologie...
The shape and fit are amazing, such a perfect spring dress.

I also found a similar style from Joe Fresh, JcPenny's new line that I recently hear about and its pretty similar if I do say so myself... the only difference, its nearly 1/3 of the price!

Have a wonderful day! xoxo

Monday's Motivation

Happy Monday!

My mom and I talk all the time about how people today forget to promote and support each other. I find more often than not that people put others down and constantly are judging others instead of uplifting them. It also kills me how much of a competition people make everything, I have a couple of friends who will get a test back and go around the class asking everyone what they got and comparing their grades and frankly its not worth it.

If others aren't there for support then it is up to you to empower and motivate yourself to be the best person that you can be... its sad to say that aside from a support network of family and close friends that encouragement and celebration does not come from many other sources. So always remember to celebrate your own accomplishments and never forget or compare yourself to others to the point where you lose sight of yourself.

Lets aim to create a week of encouragement and support for yourself and others!

Weekend Wind Down

T.G.I.F

This week was a complete whirlwind, I am both mentally and physically exhausted but I still have to keep swimming along! No matter how tired and exhausted I was I tried to keep a smile on my face and a positive attitude... the only way to get through the week is essentially just to get through it!

I have been meeting once a week with a woman in her 80's who I work with on memory tasks and each time I see her she asks me how I keep up. She mentioned yesterday how happy I was all the time and I just explained to her my outlook. What ways to do you find make you motivated and uplifted? I was using exercise as a way of decompressing, however, I'm afraid I only had time to work out once this week. My schedule next week is going to be much more intense than this so I am going to build in time to work out because I know that I need that for my sanity! Hehe.

In the meantime, its time to catch up on some sleep and get ahead for next week before it all begins again. I can't wait for the warm weather next week, it says 70 on Monday and Tuesday... 70!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! xoxo

Spring Style

This spring transition time makes me look in my closet and not know what to wear. Do the black pants get traded for white? Can I wear my Jack Roger's out and about? Are shorts and cashmere sweaters appropriate? There are always so many combinations that are possible but I don't want to go out looking like I am having a seasonal crisis if you know what I mean. My go to outfit during this weather tends to be jeans and flats with a tank and cardigan... simple, classic and weather appropriate. I always have my trench coat on repeat during this time of year and I tend to have light scarves always ready to go as well. What are some of your go to transition pieces during this time? I've found some adorable options that I might just have to try...

I love that the jeans are shorter at the bottom... capri season is beginning.

Seasons of color

The button down and jean jacket add some layers and warmth.

Another crisp button down.

I love the skinny white jeans and oversized top. I can't wait until I can pull out the wedges for weekend dinners out as well!

Enjoy! xox

Monday's Motivation

Happy Monday everyone! I hope that those of you who celebrated Easter had a wonderful day yesterday. This weekend was filled with doing homework and getting some things checked off of my list for the week. I had an interview today with the application committee with my dorm, I live in a dorm where you have to reapply to live there every year, and during my interview yesterday the two girls asked me how I manage to do everything that I do and still have such a positive attitude and a smile on my face. I told them that I always try my best to remain positive in any situation, and to just keep going. I know I can't stop so I simply just don't! I have found though that when you are constantly going and going it is so important to schedule in some pleasure things like working out, grabbing a meal with some friends, going out to dinner a night a week or stopping and enjoying some time outside enjoying the weather (hopefully I will get to do more of this soon!) in order to keep positive. So even though I have a lot of things going this week, they key is just to keep going.

Enjoy! xox
