2012... 2013

It's hard to believe that yet another year has flown by! With 2012 came amazing opportunities, unforgettable experiences and fabulous memories... this year I completed my first year and a half of college, met an amazing group of friends and professors, studied abroad three weeks in Rome, participated in the Warrior Dash and the Color Run, went to Puerto Rico with my family, started this amazing blog, attended the first ever ALT Summit in NYC, started interning at a local hospital, became the secretary and then president of the pre-med club on campus. I'm so thankful for the many opportunities that I have been fortunate enough to experience and I can't wait for another year ahead.

Last year was the first year that I created a list of New Year's Resolutions and I am happy to say that I have checked many of them off of the list! In 2013, however, I hope to develop this blog even more and try and reach more people. I also resolve to remain informed about the world and local news even more {by reading at least 3 news articles a day} and read more leisure books!

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year!! xox

Break Time

I hope that you all had an amazing holiday filled with family, friends and fabulous food. This past week has been so busy, I packed up half of my dorm room and came back home for a month long break, shopped for 4 days straight for Christmas gifts, went to New York City to see a friend who I haven't seen for a couple of months and celebrated the holiday with my family. I've compiled a photo guide to show you all of the details...

Took this picture of my school quad and chapel before leaving campus for a whole month. It is great to have a big chunk of time off to relax and regenerate but I will admit I do miss school a little bit. Its nice to have a set schedule, and I love to keep going all the time so I am going to have to plan a lot for the break!

On the way home from school, I always take my friend to the train station near my house so she can go home to NYC. This time we were early for her train so I took her to this crazy Christmas light house in the town over from me. My family and I drive by each year but this year my friend and I got out and toured the whole display... it was insane. We were speachless and we made sure that we got a picture in front of everything!

The first four days home involved shopping in New Canaan, Westport, and Westchester, NY. We ended up finding everything though and are doing returns for the next couple of days too!

Sunday afternoon I went to meet my friend and her family in NYC. I haven't seen her in a couple of months, she used to go to my school and has since transferred schools. I met her and her family uptown and then went to dinner at Nobu {so yummy!}.

Christmas Eve day I helped by mom and sister with some cooking and then helped set our holiday table for Christmas day. We went out to dinner that night with my parents and sister and had an amazing Christmas eve dinner!

Christmas day we had family at my house and ate more amazing foods! Finally everything has calmed down a bit and I've had some time to get a schedule in place and have some time to chill with my adorable doggy {brother}.

What has your past week been like?

Sweet Lemon Mag... New Issue

The newest issue of Sweet Lemon Magazine came out on Saturday and has so many amazing photos, articles and snipits of advice throughout. Here are some of my favorites but you should check it out for the rest!

Love the graphics and the design of the mag.

Inslee (the cover) is an extremely talented artist... loved hearing her stories!

Just might need to add some international bloggers to my daily reads list... how neat!

Of course, an amazing food crawl list for none other than NYC!

Enjoy! xox

NYC Fashion Week

How many of you have been keeping up with the fabulous styles that came off the runways last week at NYC Fashion Week for the Spring 2013 season? Some of the looks are amazing... the detail and creativity is impeccable. I think it would be amazing to attend a Mercedes Benz Fashion show... a girl can dream right?!

Here are a couple of favorite that I have been admiring.
Stunning...

Loving the pattern and colors mixed with this simple dress.

The color variation in this dress is amazing.

I liked how eclectic this piece looked.

Which were your favorites?

Lately...

These past couple of days have been some of the most memorable and extraordinary ones... from the Alt Summit to the Color Run with 15,000 people, my bucket list is getting checked off more quickly than I thought.

The first ever Alt Summit NYC was held this past Thursday and my mom and I were lucky enough to get tickets before it sold out! We were able to meet some amazing bloggers and speakers including Tina  Roth Eisenberg of swissmiss and Kevin Sharke and Pilar Guzman of Martha Stewart Living. In addition, Katie Armour of Matchbook Magazine, Jenny Komenda of Little Green Notebook, and Natalie of Nat the Fat Rat spoke. The event was held at Martha Stewart Omnimedia in NYC and was quite stunning!

Did I mention that Martha...  the Martha Stewart stopped by!!! She has such an empire and is so heavily involved in each and every item that she sells, prints and designs that we were honored that she took the time to come see us. In addition she even shared some of her own blogging tips!

Saturday morning, we woke up bright and early... it was so early it was more dark out than bright. At 4 AM the sun was just peaking out! It's not every day that I get to see the sunrise...

But the early rise was sooooooo worth it because we did The Color Run! It was honestly one of the most fun experiences ever... we started off with our pure white shirts and in the end were were covered with colored powder. We ran a 5 K and in the midst of it you run through sections of specific colors. After the run itself, there was a DJ playing and a huge dance party which was a blast. Every half hour or so color packets were distributed and we would throw them up to create an amazing color array. Even as we left our traces were left with the pavement completely covered...

I absolutely loved everything about these past couple of days... I would highly recommend the Color Run to anyone... it was amazing! And I appreciated going to the Alt Summit, it was nice to learn more about the blogging community, a group that I am happy to be a part of!

How was your weekend? xox

DIY Business Cards

I've been going back and forth over the past couple of days about business cards... should I buy them or make them, what should I put on them and if I really need them in the first place! Since my mom and I are going to be at the ALT Summit next week in NYC I thought I should have some form of contact card to give out if anyone wants to reconnect. I got very creative on Microsoft Word with all the shapes, of course our Photoshop disk has gone missing.

Here they are... and I have to say, I am happy that I did them myself. There is something so exciting about D.I.Y projects!

What do you think?
