Friday's Favorites

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all had a great week and are going to have a fabulous weekend ahead. This week has certainly been a busy one (moved into my new dorm and have been catching up with freinds and preparing for the busy year ahead). Here are some lovely pictures that I thought I would share to kick off your weekend...

Liven It Up!

Blake Lively has quite the style sense. Her red carpet looks are exquisite and she always takes fashion risks in one way or another. I've put together a collection of my favorite Lively looks...
Which one do you like best?

The yellow dress in and of itself is a risky move but paired with the stunning turquoise earrings and a simple braid she looks amazing.

Street style... the jeweled top is fabulous and looks amazing paired with the blue leather.

Now this is a show stopper, everything about this look is amazing. The dress is fun and fabulous and the shoes are sleek and sophisticated.

This is probably my favorite look... such a ladylike and sophisticated outfit. I love how the lace dress is paired with a classic white blazer to add a more serious look.

The color of this dress is stunning!! The fit and style is perfect for Blake.

Enjoy! xox

Midweek Motivation

Today is like a fresh start, new dorm, new classes, new year and I have to say I am so excited! It's move in day today (pictures of my dorm will come soon!) and I am so ready for this new year ahead, I feel like I learned a lot about myself last year and now it is time to run with it.

What great ways to savor the moments...

Bookcase Collections

It's officially time for me to head back to school... I am packing everything today and will be back tomorrow. Although I have a couple of days before I hit the books, I will soon be overwhelmed with new titles, classics and many textbooks. I just hope I can organize them as fabulously as these reads are!

Organized beyond organized... what I strive for!

Bookshelves behind the bed, I also like the art hung in front!

First off, the color of this office is stunning and I love the accessories mixed in!

Talk about accessories... this looks like an extremely well curated collection!

Have a great day! xox

Lately...

These past couple of days have been some of the most memorable and extraordinary ones... from the Alt Summit to the Color Run with 15,000 people, my bucket list is getting checked off more quickly than I thought.

The first ever Alt Summit NYC was held this past Thursday and my mom and I were lucky enough to get tickets before it sold out! We were able to meet some amazing bloggers and speakers including Tina  Roth Eisenberg of swissmiss and Kevin Sharke and Pilar Guzman of Martha Stewart Living. In addition, Katie Armour of Matchbook Magazine, Jenny Komenda of Little Green Notebook, and Natalie of Nat the Fat Rat spoke. The event was held at Martha Stewart Omnimedia in NYC and was quite stunning!

Did I mention that Martha...  the Martha Stewart stopped by!!! She has such an empire and is so heavily involved in each and every item that she sells, prints and designs that we were honored that she took the time to come see us. In addition she even shared some of her own blogging tips!

Saturday morning, we woke up bright and early... it was so early it was more dark out than bright. At 4 AM the sun was just peaking out! It's not every day that I get to see the sunrise...

But the early rise was sooooooo worth it because we did The Color Run! It was honestly one of the most fun experiences ever... we started off with our pure white shirts and in the end were were covered with colored powder. We ran a 5 K and in the midst of it you run through sections of specific colors. After the run itself, there was a DJ playing and a huge dance party which was a blast. Every half hour or so color packets were distributed and we would throw them up to create an amazing color array. Even as we left our traces were left with the pavement completely covered...

I absolutely loved everything about these past couple of days... I would highly recommend the Color Run to anyone... it was amazing! And I appreciated going to the Alt Summit, it was nice to learn more about the blogging community, a group that I am happy to be a part of!

How was your weekend? xox

Off to the big apple today with my mom for the Alt Summit! I can't wait to meet a ton of other amazing bloggers and learn about even more ways to improve A Girl In The Know.

Have a great day everyone! xox

Midweek Motivation

What a great quote! I have always been the type of person that likes to have a straight path to follow but what I have realized time and time again is that paths change and expectations quickly become erased away. This quote proves again that we can't really predict our futures or for see outcomes because life throws curveballs that we just have to learn to roll with!

Black and White

It seems like another one of fall's go to combinations will be black skinny pants and a black blazer paired with a crisp white shirt. This is a combination that will never go out of style and looks chic paired with any accessory. Another one of the reasons why I can't wait for fall!

Have a great day! xox

Dream Closets

Is this not the most amazing closet you have ever seen?

I've seen this closet again and again and am in love with the stunning fretwork details, the color coded focal wall and the white cabinetry mixed with the light sheers. A girl can certainly dream right?

Glamour girl to the max... what a great idea to turn an attic space into a dream closet. I love the ceiling to floor metallic wallpaper and the accents of bronze, silver and gold throughout!

Minimalist chic but still has a lot of personality... love the kelly green accents as well as the drawer pulls!

The wallpaper makes this closet really pop! I have to say, I don't mind the clothing not being color coded for a change, it makes each piece stand out against the rest.

What would your dream closet look like?

Have a great day... Enjoy! xox

Happy Monday!!

Happy Monday everyone! Hope the weekend was a relaxing one and you are all starting the second to last week of August on a good note! My family just got back from a vacation in the Hamptons, my favorite destination for rest and relaxation, and we had an amazing time. Essentially we just sit on the beach, eat great food and always do some shopping but this year we added a little twist, our first ever fishing trip. We drove out to Montauk and my sister, who has always wanted to fish got to catch her first baby fluke! Here are some photos recapping the trip.

My sister and I at the beach

Beach Dunes... there is nothing like the beaches in the Hamptons.

On the fishing boat

My sister's first catch... catch and release that is! hehe

Stunning sunset!

Trendsetter Kate Middelton

Ever since Price William married Kate Middelton she has been known around the world as a trendsetter donning classic pieces with mixes of pattern, glimmer or color! Personally I love her style, she always looks so sophisticated and ladylike.

Her evening wear is stunning... I love the glimmer and blush color, she really does look like a princess.

Coral skinny legged denim mixed with a blue blazer for day and a sweatshirt for Olympic madness.

A blue ensemble... blue blazer, stripes, denim and shoes.

Her style is perfection... definitely a role model! Enjoy! xox

Marbled Details

After coming across these marbled boxes a couple of weeks ago, I have been drawn to marbled details. Marbled elements add trendiness and color to any space and can be added in big areas or just in moderation.
Loving the marbled bookcase backdrop!

The color in this marbled invite is amazing!

My favorite marbled paper in another bookcase... this time decorated a little more funky.

Did you say you wanted some marbled salt and pepper shakers?

How brilliant... still making the marbling a focal point but only requires one piece!

What do you think about marbled details? A do or don't?

Enjoy! xox

DIY Business Cards

I've been going back and forth over the past couple of days about business cards... should I buy them or make them, what should I put on them and if I really need them in the first place! Since my mom and I are going to be at the ALT Summit next week in NYC I thought I should have some form of contact card to give out if anyone wants to reconnect. I got very creative on Microsoft Word with all the shapes, of course our Photoshop disk has gone missing.

Here they are... and I have to say, I am happy that I did them myself. There is something so exciting about D.I.Y projects!

What do you think?

Fall Essentials

Even though I love sitting out in the sun and working on my tan, there is something so refreshing about fall. I love being able to pull my riding boots and blazers out of hibernation and wear them around our stunning campus. Here are some fall essentials that will definitely be on repeat this upcoming season! What are your fall go-to choices?

Double Denim... dark jeans and light chambray top with pop of color flats!

Black skinny jeans with cashmere sweaters for the colder days.

Pop of color... love these orange pants! I just got a J.Crew corduroy pair for this winter.

Fabulous wool coat to finish off all fall ensembles!

Monday's Motivation

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope that you all had an amazing weekend, had some fun and got to relax in the beautiful sun.
This week is going to be another busy one, running errands, getting materials for school and working. Did I mention that I am going on vacation again this week (I have to say this summer has been amazing, I have been loving and feel grateful for every moment of it!) so I guess I will have to pack again!

This weeks motivational start comes from the one and only Oprah... I love her words of wisdom!

By finding people who make you happy, motivate you to become the best you can be and surround you with love and support is crucial to succeed!

As promised, here are some pictures of my boat trip... we had an amazing time and even though my friend's boat is called city girls, we learned how to become boat chicks for the past couple of days!

Have a great day! Enjoy! xox

Weekend Wishes

Loving this ensemble... its classic and casual and so effortlessly chic!

So far the weekend has been fairly relaxing... got home from an amazing boat trip with my friends, caught up with the family and spent the afternoon writing To-Do lists because I thought tomorrow was Monday (oops!). Hope you are enjoying the weekend as well.

Dashing Thursday

I've always been a fan of the Kardashian family... I will admit, I watch the shows and keep up with the gossip. I also enjoy seeing their styles emerge... I have to say that Kourtney's wardrobe is most like my own, she typically mixes simple pieces and has more of a timeless look that I admire.

Loving...

The classic riding boots with button downs and jeans or leggings and fabulous wool blazer

Her mix of pattern, eyelet dress with leopard print sandals, or chevron-esque prints

I'm On A Boat

I'm so excited... my three closest friends from college and I are taking a 4 day boat trip (well kind of). We are staying on one of my friend's boat for the next 4 days. Since none of us have our boat license we will take the dinghy out on the water and enjoy tanning on the beach until Friday when we get to go out around Connecticut and New York with my friend's dad! I'm excited to have some time to catch up with my friends, it has been two months since we have all been together and it will be good to exchange stories and laugh a lot!

I'm also excited for the packing, nautical inspired everything for the next couple of days!
Stripes are a packing must! What is more nautical that blue and white stripes?

Casual denim shorts and cable knit sweaters for nighttime.
Loving the coral nail color as well!

Enjoy! xox

P.S- I will still be posting like usual while I am away... tomorrow its all about one celebs dashing style!
