Kate Bosworth

This week's celeb style post is all about the stunning Kate Bosworth. She has a simple style that I really admire and always looks amazing in any one of her outfits, whether it be to an awards ceremony or just simply while she is caught walking the streets!

I love this color and the fit of this dress.

The mix here is really nice.

Rainy day chic!

Monday's Motivation

Good morning! This weekend was a busy one, I had a lot of homework to get done for my classes and in addition I got to spend a good amount of time socializing and catching up with friends who I haven't seen for a while. I came across this quote the other day and thought it was so relevant to my situation at the beginning of this semester... I spent a lot of time last semester with someone that I like to call an energy drainer and frankly I had enough! This semester was all about being positive and happy and surrounding myself with people who would motivate and inspire me as a person. I have learned to choose more wisely this semester and really take time and think about the people that I surround myself most with. Now that my five favorites have been narrowed down I have laughed more in the first week of the semester than all of last put together, as a group we have been able to delve deep and talk to each other about anything and as a result I have become I happier and more positive person again. This quote is a great reminder that we all need to pick our friends wisely and surround ourselves with those that are going to lift us higher!

Have a wonderful day. xox

Weekend Wishes

Happy weekend everyone! It's hard to believe that the spring semester had already been in full swing for a week. It is good to get back to a schedule but it will also be nice to catch up with friends and relax a little this weekend, all while getting myself more organized and doing a lot of reading for my classes. I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and for those of you in New England... I hope you stay warm! This weather is insane.

Enjoy! xox

Celeb Style

I've always been a fan of Olivia Palermo! Her sense of style is impeccable and all of her outfits look classic and chic while still looking natural. That is something that I strive for in my outfits, classic while still having a unique style. I've always been such a plain jane when it comes to style. I'm not usually daring when it comes to my wardrobe but I tend to add accent colors and interest in my jewelry and accessories. Olivia Palermo, on the other hand, is daring and dynamic and is always wowing everyone with her newest looks. Here are a few more recent photos of her.

This jacket is fabulous!

Simple and stunning... the orange skirt adds some pop.

Effortless...

Another amazing and easy outfit... would be perfect for weekend errand running!

What is your favorite Olivia Palermo outfit?

Enjoy! xox

Loving This Look

I have to say I love everything about this look! There is such effortlessness to this outfit and yet is looks completely chic and formal at the same time. I could see myself wearing this around campus on a school day or even to dinner on the weekends. The cargo pants are fabulous... I love the slim leg, pockets and zippers throughout that add some perfect details! Here is my take on the combination...

*What does everyone think about {Loving This Look} posts every Tuesday? It will be an outfit combination that piques my interest and my new take on the combination. I'd also be open to your personal favorites as well!*

Monday's Motivation

It official, it's time to go back to school. This vacation was wonderful, I was able to spend a ton of time with my family and friends and spent some time in the city as well. After such a busy semester I was happy to have some time to really relax and enjoy the simple things in life... spending time laughing with my family, cooking quality food, sleeping in, having time to work out, seeing old friends. Everything about the break was wonderful but its back to reality today, I'm driving back to school this morning. The majority of my day will be spend unpacking all of the food that my family has made for me, the clothes that I bring so much of back and forth (I think I've finally learned my lesson... haha) and getting my research project back on track. This semester is going to be all about balance... I have to continue to do the things that I love and learn to say no to those that only bring stress and aggravation! That is the main goal for the spring semester... learning to say no!

I came across today's valuable words of wisdom on Pinterest the other day and really appreciate this reminder. Success is all about opportunities yes, but it is also about taking those opportunities and running with them! What are some of your personal reminders that keep you motivated and humble?

Enjoy! xox

Weekend Wishes

Last night I attended a networking event and panel held by the Women's Leadership Association at my school. I attended the event last year and appreciated all of the wonderful advice that women in all fields gave to us and last night was no different. There were three women on the panel, and all of them worked their way through fields that were dominated by men.
And they made it through quite successfully...

I enjoyed hearing about the advice that they had to give and thought I would share some bits of the panel with you! Some of my favorite quotes included:

"Be fearless to pursue what interests you."
"Keep reinventing yourself."
"Don't be self conscious by your differences."
"All you have to do is have your name out there once..."
"Feed your head."

One of the most important messages I took away from the event was that diligence, leadership and energy are the key factors to success. One of the women described it as having a spark and that is something that we should all seek!

Success is clearly built on opportunities that are taken and effort, willpower and time. I have a long road ahead until I can consider myself successful in the medical field but I am appreciative to hear these words of advice now and can apply them for the many years to come.

To a successful weekend... and a relaxing one as well! xox

Loving this Look

I pinned this picture a while ago and got so many repins that I finally decided to do a post on how to get this look yourself! I love how carefree and elegant this outfit is, it could be a perfect weekend outfit or one for running errands during the week. There are so many other combinations of accessories and accents that can be added or changed in this outfit that it could be versatile for many more occasions.

What do you think?

Midweek Motivation

Wednesday already... this week has flown by! Monday was a day filled with doing little things around the house and running errands. Yesterday I drove an hour to shadow at the hospital next to my school and today is all about list checking! I have had a to do list for most of the break and I will admit I haven't been too motivated to check anything off. After all, break is coming to a close and I want to savor the relaxation before the chaos begins again! But today I have decided to begin list checking again... I have to make a resume, apply for study abroad programs and apply for summer opportunities in addition to tutoring and reviewing for my own classes for next week. Tomorrow entails another trip to NYC so I have a lot to get done on this snowy Wednesday.

Enjoy! xox

Chambray Combinations

Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. My weekend was amazing, after a trip to New York and a farewell to my friends from high school I was able to catch up on sleep and enjoy some quality time with my family {picture recap coming later!}.

One of my favorite and most used articles of clothing is my chambray shirt. My mom got it for me from J.Crew a couple of years ago and it still one of my favorite pieces. I love combining it, however, with dark jeans and camel or classic leather pieces to make the look sleek and sophisticated.

Weekend Wishes

I'm still in New York and loving every second of it! It's so nice to be spending time with friends and eating our way throughout the city. There is truly nothing like NYC and I hope that one day, even for a short while I can live there and experience the whole entire city. I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend filled with all the best {family, friends and adventures}. Enjoy! xox

Smoothies

Good morning! I can't believe it's Thursday already, I am off to New York City for the next two days to celebrate a friend's birthday and I can't wait. Before I leave, however, I wanted to tell you all about my newest fad... smoothies!

Even though the smoothie fad has been around for many years, it wasn't until this week that  I actually realized how great and delicious they are. My mom has a ton of frozen fruit in the freezer so I mixed strawberries, and pineapple with fresh carrot and fresh spinach into our blender and had an amazing smoothie. It's the perfect way to get a lot of servings of fruits and veggies in one yummy drink. In addition, I tend to be an all day snacker, I'm ALWAYS hungry and the smoothie filled me up for hours which was awesome! I'll post again with some of my new smoothie recipes soon.

Do you drink smoothies and what are your go to fruits and veggies to add?

Have a great day! xox

New, New, New

With the new year comes new magazine issues, and shows, new seasonal clothes and my favorite part... the planners and calendars. The new issue of Matchbook Magazine was released only a few days ago and it is another fabulous issue! I love everything from the article on La France and all of the adorable clothing, accessory and household picks for any personality.

I was amazed at how quickly stores take their winter clothes from the stores and have spring and summer everything already. Thats not such a bad thing though, it just means that I can admire all of the new clothes and pick some new favorites.

And the most important part of the new year... the planners and calendars! I always love picking my new planner, it has to have enough room to write all of my homework down and have calendar pages throughout to fit my long term schedule.

What are your favorite parts of the new year?

OOTD - Preppy

Sweater - J.Crew, Chambray - J. Crew,
Jeans - Zara, Boots - Anne Klein {old},
 Bag- Louis Vuitton

Now that the weather in New England is getting much colder, and I'm going to be out walking my campus in only a couple of weeks, I begin layering to keep warm. Wearing a button down of any kind {chambray, white, patterned button downs} with a sweater on top is such a cute and preppy combination and one that is sure to keep warm. I tend to wear more classic pieces but it's just as easy to pair a patterned or bright color button down with a warm and cozy sweater. Here are some other chic and classic combinations...

For the warmer days...

What are your go to warm winter layers?

Weekend Wishes

It seems like the week just began but it's the weekend already! Have any of you read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn? The book was amazing and I couldn't put it down for most of the week. This weekend I am going to see Les Miserables with some friends from high school and then we are going out to dinner. In the meantime I am going to be reading another book that my mom got me for Christmas and working through a huge To-Do list of things that I must get completed before going back to school. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend {and are just as chic and cozy as the fabulous outfit above}!

Fresh Start: Organizing The Closet

It was back to work and school for everyone in my family today, except for me. I still have so much time left before going back to school and I have to admit, there was a part of yesterday that I was walking around looking for things to do. I found something... cleaning my closet became my afternoon task. I am usually such a neat freak but when I come home from school my closet always gets a little bit messy, not anymore! There were unfolded clothes everywhere {I usually like to have everything separated by season and style} and bags and shoes were in disarray.

After only 30 minutes of folding and cleaning I feel like I have a new closet! I found some clothes that I didn't even know I had at home {I still have half of my clothes at school}. I keep all of my pants and shirts and some sweaters folded and I have dresses, skirts, long sweaters and jackets all hung up on the other side of the closet.

I displayed my shoes so I can see the front and back of each pair and I lined up boots in a row. I folded and hung my Longchamp bags {such a genius design} and hung my scarves as well.

The other section needed a lot of refolding and separating... I was able to divide my summer and winter clothes {finally} and keep my shirts, pants and sweaters for the winter separated from the workout clothes. Dividing everything makes it so much easier to see!

Hope you have a wonderful day! xox

Classic Camel

Good Morning everyone! Happy New Year to you all.

This past year I acquired two cashmere camel sweaters and I have to say I have been wearing them on repeat ever since I got them. Camel is a classic color that can literally go with anything and I've been pairing my sweaters with everything from black pants to jeans and skirts. The best part about wearing such a classic color is that accessories and layers in bright colors can spice up an outfit quickly. There are times that I will spend the whole day in the library in a cashmere and jeans and then quickly change before going out to dinner into black pants, a colorful scarf and fabulous jewels and I'm good to go!

Love the colorful accents and jewels!

Sleek and sophisticated.

This combination is very classic but the stripes add an element of fun!

Have a wonderful day! xox
