What A Beautiful Day!

Good afternoon! I just got back from a beautiful run on campus... beautiful is kind of an understatement, its nearly 55 degrees and it's the last day of January. I was so excited to be able to spend some time outdoors this afternoon that my run turned into more of a photography session. Here are some of the pictures I took on my outing... pretty spectacular, hugh?

The side of our beautiful chapel.

The garden off of the chapel cloisters.

A view of the Long Walk from inside the Cloisters.

The Long Walk!

No, this one is not one of my own... although I wish! I just had to share this photo... it is my all time favorite pic of nature's beauty!
I'd like to come across a street this magical one of these days...

I hope you all enjoyed the gorgeous day!

Wise Words from The Help

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! The weather in Connecticut was beautiful, almost Spring-like and it made me so happy. My weekend came to a close with the SAG awards and I couldn't be more happy for the cast of The Help. I loved The Help... the book and the movie were honest and powerful. Aibileen's quote will go with me for the rest of my life... and I hope it will mean something to all of you, wonderful, special people.

I have a collection of quotes on my computer that I go to when I'm having a tough day, when I need some pepping up or some motivation and this quote is my top pick. It puts my life into perspective and makes me realize how thankful I am of the many opportunities I have. Here's to feeling important and thankful!

Have a wonderful afternoon. xo

Ice Hotels

I posted a photo of an ice hotel on my Pinterest yesterday and was amazed at how many people were just as enamored as I with the magical essence of them. It would be a dream of mine to visit an ice hotel one day... they are so intricate, unique and just plain insane! Here are some of my favorite photos. What do you think, amazing, hugh?

Sculpted chairs and chandelier.

How amazing, and time consuming to create.

 Glamorous and chevron "wallpaper."

 Polar bear pad.

 Wonderful!

A fireplace!

Happy Friday everyone.

Snail Mail

I promised myself that I would write a letter to my best friend today... but what did I do instead? I sent a text, the more efficient and modern way to communicate. It's sad to think that sending postcards and letters has become obsolete. Snail mail has turned into an art... an art that I think we should appreciate more of... Here's to sending letters!

You've got mail...

Letter collection.

What an adorable way to make a card or invite more unique.

Stamp collection anyone?

How cute and special!

Even the mailboxes used to be more creative...

Have a great afternoon!

Dog Day!!

Ever since I was little, I've been obsessed with dogs and their personalities, friendliness and the love they provide...so today's post is all about dogs!

Dog party!

Dog wallpaper... this is going in my home one day!

Women and their dogs... I don't know about you
but I'd like to walk my dog looking that
stylish!

In the lap of luxury...

What a cutie! Even a dog can pull off stripes.

What a smart little puppy! I like how his nose matches
the glasses somewhat.

Cool leash!

Last but not least... the smiling dog to remind you to put a smile on wherever you go, you never know, you might make someone's day, just like this smiling dog has made mine!

Photos via, other photos are one's that I've had for a while and no longer have the sources... if any are yours or know where they come from please let me know so I can give credit for these amazing photos.

Stripes. Stripes. Stripes.

I found this adorable illustration on my new favorite site... Pinterest and decided today was a stripe day! I found some cute outfits and funky interiors to share!

Sophisticated with flair.

Stripes and a trench... love.

I'd love to have a hallway like this in my house one day!

The variated stripes are unexpected but neat.

My stripes...

Back To Reality

It's back to reality for me... After a wonderful month off, I had to go back to school yesterday. I feel like today was the first day of school all over again... meeting new professors, picking up/ opening brand new textbooks, and getting used to a new schedule, even getting used to being back in a dorm!

Speaking of my dorm room... here it is! What do you all think? I took a picture of my room and sent it to Jack Wills because my room is somewhat Jack Wills inspired. I'm even wearing my Jack Wills blazer in the photo, and the blanket is JW too.

I am in love with this wool blazer. Not only is it incredibly warm but the detailing on the inside and collar add that little bit of sass to any outfit.
Even the buttons have pink Jack Wills engravings!

The blazer trend has taken off this year. Here are some of my favorite blazer photos...

Love the color of the blazer and the layering of the outfit!

Simple, blue blazer paired with colorful pants and a leopard bag... how fun!

How pretty is this combination... Hot pink is so unexpected but chic.

Hope you all had a great day!

The Fact Files

I've always been known, in my family, as the one with the weird facts... I guess I've always been a girl in the know without realizing it. The Fact Files is going to be my way of sharing the quirky things I find fascinating, with you.

When I was flipping through magazines last night I came across this fact in The Oprah Magazine and couldn't believe it...

"The energy it takes to mine enough aluminum for one stick of antiperspirant could power your laptop for a half hour."

Enjoy the snowy weekend!

Welcome!

Welcome to A Girl In The Know!

I've wanted to start a blog for the past couple of months and I have finally done it! After my mom started a blog last year, the seek was planted and I've been entranced into the blogging world ever since. Blogs, for me bring inspiration, motivation and shear enjoyment and I hope A Girl In The Know provides the same thrill for all of you!
