Medical School Essentials

~

I've been here for well over a month now... hard to believe how quickly time flies! It became evident early on in the term that I brought along some essential items that I haven't gone a single day without using. I thought I'd share just a few of my top daily necessities.

Eye Mask ~ This is a must. The caribbean sun shines through the windows early in the morning. Medical school students already run low on sleep so it is imperative that we get the best quality sleep in the little time we have!

Lilly Pulitzer Planner ~ I wrote my whole term (tests, quizzes, labs and even breaks) at the beginning of the term and I check my schedule throughout the day. More importantly I check off each day on my master calendar to celebrate the accomplishment of completing another day of medical school. That also means one more day closer till I am reunited with my family for the break!

Cashmere Travel Scarf ~ If you didn't know it already, I'm cashmere obsessed. Everyone laughed when I told them I was going to be packing cashmere to live on a Caribbean island. But I might just have to say I told you so. The study spaces, lecture halls and even my dorm room is freezing so I throw this wrap on and its basically large enough to double as a blanket. It's perfect!

Beats Solo2 Headphones ~ I can't live without these. I actually got them as part of the Back to School promotion that Apple was running when I got my computer. They are amazing, I wear them in my room, to FaceTime and in the study halls. While they do squeeze my ears after wearing them for so many hours straight they get rid of background noise so I can wear them and not even have to play music.

Week's Favorites

It is hard to believe that the week is flying by so quickly and the holidays are officially behind us. It is back to the swing of things now, school preparation, holiday cleaning and yearly essentials are on the to do list until I go back to school. I am enjoying having some time to spend with the family and some friends and to take some extra time to read and also do some online blog and shop searches too. If you follow me on pinterest you will probably notice that I've been pinning new things nonstop... everyone needs a little wardrobe tweaking, recipe inspiration and organization tips for the New Year! There is nothing better than adding a few classic and timeless pieces to your wardrobe whether it be through jewels, pjs or rain attire. I love that Hunter reinvented their boots again to include the color block and I can't resist these adorable monogram boxer pajamas. I've been taking some quality time to organize my desk and to prepare my planner for the new year as well. Lastly my family has been baking and cooking up a storm, I made oatmeal raisin cookies on Sunday that were gone by Tuesday night and then my sister and grandma make a traditional pastry on Monday as well!

What are some of your week's favorites?

Travel... Carry On Essentials

I always wait until the last minute to throw together my carry on bag. Usually my Longchamp is filled with everything I need already so its easy but this trip I've decided to take a backpack. Filling four months worth of stuff into two suitcases means that I needed the biggest "purse" I could bring. So... In addition to my computer, these are my carry on essentials that will go in my backpack this trip!

{1} iPhone and case is a must!
{2} Passport... to Denmark we go
{3} Water bottle...essential to keep hydrated especially during long flights
{4} Sunglasses
{5} Eye mask... zzz
{6} iPad and Tory Burch case... in flight reading and entertainment
{7} Notebook and something to write with
{8} Magazines galore
{9} Gum and iPhone charger
{10} Cosmetic cases for the little things

What are some of your carry on essentials?

What's In My Bag...

Don't ask me why but I've always loved when blogs and magazines have "What's In (some amazing fashion maven's) bag..." so while I was cleaning out my bag the other day I decided to take some of my own photos. I typically go back and forth between two bags for my every day use. As you can see, I love a big tote, so the Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM is perfect for school and shopping and then when the weather gets bad or I have to carry a lot I switch to a Longchamp bag. This summer I have been pretty much exclusively using the Louis Vuitton bag which somehow still stays pretty busy even though I don't have classes anymore! I like to keep everything neat and organized so you will notice that I have a lot of notepads and cosmetic pouches that hold all of the little things that would typically go right to the bottom of the bag.

Lilly Pulitzer Agenda
Clipboard and notepad
Gucci Wallet
Marc Jacobs Cosmetic Case
Jonathan Adler Pencil Case

iPad in my favorite Tory Burch Hedgehog Case
iPod with my Tory Burch Hedgehog background {I'm obsessed}
Chargers for everything!!

My Marc Jacobs pouch has so many little items...

Newman's Own Organic Mints
 Gum,
Hand sanitizer,
Mirror,
Hair ties,
Lip glosses galore

What do you usually have in your bag?

Have a great day! xox

P.S: I would love to have one of you share "What's in your bag..."

Back To School Shopping... Dorm Room

School is right around the corner and you know what that means... time for back to school shopping!

Here are some dorm room essentials, accents and fun accessories that will make every school year start on a great note.

{1} I would highly recommend getting a mini white board for your dorm room door, its great for leaving notes for others and for them to leave them for you!
{2} Find a set of pens and pencils that have style, work with your dorm room scheme and make you feel inspired to get through all of the work. I love these iomoi ones!
{3} This year I might add one of these little guys to my room to make it feel more homey. These terrariums require little to no attention and are adorable!
{4} There are about a million different shower caddys out there but I would highly recommend this version. The smaller clear piece overlaps into the larger one for day and night use.
{5} Get a cute travel mug its eco-friendly and will come in handy for those coffee and tea runs at the cafeteria!
{6} Add a little personality to your desk with one of these Design Darling monogramed lucite pencil cups... monogram in hot pink of course!
{7} I learned this early on... leave your door open as much as you can, people will stop by and you will get to introduce yourself to all of your neighbors early on! I think if I had this shoe door stop I might leave my door open all the time. Hehe.
{8} I decided not to bring a DVD player along to college so instead I play my movies from my computer and connect them with the cord into the tv.
{9} With co-ed floors I always felt more comfortable walking around in a robe as opposed to just a towel. Get a cute robe, monogramed of course to have for the walk to the bathroom.
{10} Organization during the school year is key and I find that the way to keep everything straight is with a planner. I love the patterns and colors of these Lilly Pulitzer ones!
{11} I love this blanket so much, I use it as my coverlet at school. It is soft and warm and after finding it I inspired my room after Jack Wills pink and navy blue.
{12} Adding pops of colors and pattern with these great pillows makes your room even more fun and inviting.
{13} Add this bolster pillow to tie everything together!

And the back to school shopping begins... Enjoy! xox
